Main Consultant
With 22+ years in electrical design, drafting, BIM, and digital engineering leadership, I bring an engineering-first perspective to substation and infrastructure projects. This includes 11+ years focused on substation yard design (11–400kV, brownfield/greenfield, renewables HV reticulation), leading drafting/modelling teams, and delivering coordinated models from proposal through to as-builts for clients in Africa and the Middle East. In New Zealand, I spent 5.5 years as BIM Manager and CAD Team Leader across multiple parallel roles in the electrical/transmission sector. Since middle 2025, I've been contracting as independent BIM Consultant in New Zealand, via Baumass DE, multiplying BIM/DE capability for clients in New Zealand and Australia.
My defining value: As a capability multiplier, I help NZ and AU electrical/construction teams build real, confident BIM capability quickly and correctly — turning processes, standards (e.g., ISO 19650), and tools into project advantages, not just producing drawings.
I serve both Australian and New Zealand clients, operating out of Christchurch.
Gideon holds a B Comm (Information & Technology Management). Hands-on experience includes a range of CDE and DMS platforms (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revizto, Cintoo, Navisworks, Bentley ProjectWise, Accruent Meridian, SharePoint and Redeye) and tools (Revit, Civil 3D, Map 3D, InfraWorks, Recap, Leica, Cloud Collaborate, AutoCAD, Vehicle Tracking, Inventor, Bentley MicroStation, and PV CAD Mega). This includes extensive work both solo or leading CAD Project workgroups, designing substations of various architectures and voltages from 11 up to 400kV, renewable (wind and solar) HV reticulation, overhead lines, cables, brownfields and greenfields.
