Baumass Digital Engineering provides consulting and modelling services for clients in New Zealand and Australia. We specialize in infrastructure and industrial to cater for projects and assets that fall outside of the building construction industries. Gideon is a BIM professional with 22+ years experience in electrical design and building information modelling with a focus on substation and infrastructure projects.

Highlights of my career:

  • 11+ years focused on substation yard design
    (11–400kV, brownfield/greenfield, renewables HV reticulation),
  • Leading drafting/modelling teams
  • Delivery of coordinated models from proposal through construction and handover for clients in Africa and the Middle East, including substation design (11-400kV), renewable reticulation, building design.

In New Zealand, I spent 5 years as BIM Manager and Team Leader in the electrical/transmission sector. I've been contracting from 2025 as independent BIM Consultant in New Zealand, multiplying BIM/DE capability for clients in New Zealand and Australia.

  • B Comm–Information & Technology Management (NZQF 7)
  • CDE experience: Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revizto, Cintoo, Navisworks, Bentley ProjectWise, Accruent Meridian, SharePoint and Redeye
  • Authoring Tools: Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Map 3D, Infraworks, Recap, Leica, AutoCAD, Vehicle Tracking, Inventor, Bentley MicroStation, and PV CAD Mega.
  • 3D laser scanning and point cloud processing, scan-to-bim
  • BIM management and coordination
  • Brownfields and greenfields modelling and digitization
  • Geolocation and GIS.
